26th CHILDREN'S CONVOY WILL ROLL ON THE 28th AUGUST 2011.

The East Coast Truckers’ Charity “Children’s Convoy” will run on Sunday 28th August this year. The convoy is unique as we take children out for a day in trucks, so far as we know it is the only one in the world that has been going for 25 Years. However, this year it has been extremely hard to get cover from the authorities, we have now found a solution and it is thanks to all the support we have received we can run this year. We will as usual be putting safety first with our special person in the trucks. We will have a maximum speed limit of 30 MPH, which must be adhered to at all times.

This Convoy could well be the last.

The route will be the same as in previous years and it will unfortunately cause some disruption to other road users as we pass through with our cargo of special needs children. If you are inconvenienced in any way please be patient and if you can give the children on the convoy a big wave, they will just love your support.

The convoy with its cargo of special needs Children will leave County Hall car park at 10.00 hrs. Turn left onto Bracondale to the traffic lights, right on to Kings Street, right onto Carrow Road past the football ground and right on to Canary Way Road. Then back on to Carrow Road before turning left onto Clarence Road, right at the lights onto Thorpe Road (A1242) following the Yarmouth Road all the way to the Postwick Roundabout and onto the A47 to Gt Yarmouth. There will be disruption through this section for approximately 45 minutes until the last truck is onto the A47.

At the Acle New Road roundabout it will turn right and continue on the A47 to the Vauxhall roundabout where it turns right onto the A12 over the Breydon Bridge, the lead truck should be here at approximately 1115 hrs. Over various roundabouts, it turns left onto the Beccles Road over the junction with Southtown Road and onto the Beccles Road. Left onto Church Road B1370 ). Then onto the next Roundabout where it takes the exit onto Middleton Road turning right at the roundabout onto Lowestoft Road (A12) The Convoy stays on the A12 until the roundabout junction with Foxburrow Hill road where it will turn left onto the road leading into Pleasurewood Hills. The time of arrival for the lead truck should be around 1150 hrs.

The Convoy leaves Pleasurewood Hills at 1715 hrs and makes its way back via Gt. Yarmouth sea front, the Route is as follows; the Convoy takes the A12 Yarmouth Road back over various roundabouts back to Gorleston. At the roundabout, we turn left back onto Middleton Road to the next roundabout where go back onto Church Road B1370). Continue along Church road to the White Horse Roundabout, turning right onto Beccles Road, bearing round to the left continuing up to the roundabout leading onto the A12, taking the direction to Gt Yarmouth. At the next roundabout where we take the last exit onto Pasteur Road, onto Bridge Road and over Haven Bridge turning right onto Hall Quay then South Quay onto Southgates Road and then South Denes Road. We then turn left into Hartman road where the lead truck stops to let the Convoy form up. Then at 1800 hrs the convoy turns left onto South Beach Parade to start the parade along the seafront. Parts of Marine Parade will be closed off to traffic just before the convoy comes through. East Coast Truckers will have stewards all along this section to advise spectators to keep back on the pavement to let the Convoy pass safely. The Convoy takes about 45 minutes to travel the sea front. This is one of the highlights the children enjoy while they are on this unique day out with their adopted trucker for the day. The Convoy continues along Marine Parade onto North Drive until they turn left into Jellico Road. Travelingalong Jellico Road, turning left onto Caister Road then bearing right onto Lawn Avenue before turning back onto the A47 at the roundabout, reaching this point at about 1845 hrs. The Convoy heads back to Norwich along the A47 taking the exit for the junction with the Loddon Road the A146, turning right onto the A146 to the traffic lights to turn onto Martineau Lane and back into the County Hall car park.

FRIENDLY ADVICE FROM THE ORGANISERS OF THE EAST COAST TRUCKERS' CHARITY "CHILDRENS CONVOY"

Please be aware that all of the trucks on the convoy are working trucks that have been pains takenly polished and prepared just for our day. The drivers are all professional and highly skilled.
Nevertheless you will need to exercise caution when the convoy passes by. Please take care that children do not get too close to the roadside and please never walk between the moving trucks.

FINALLY, PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PASS ANYTHING TO THE TRUCKS, ENJOY OUR CONVOY AND GO HOME SAFE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
